Marcestel was born in France and raised among people of high society as he is from a noble family. The hotel [Cap Estel] (Cote d’Azur) is managed by his parents. Its beautiful landscape, magnificent garden, and the deep blue Mediterranean Sea nurtured his color sense.
Visiting Japan for the first time as a young diplomat in the year of the Japan World Expo in Osaka, he was attracted to Japanese culture and especially inspired by NIJIMI, the art of deblurring.
NIJIMI is not a man-made technique but the result of nature which brings its beauty. The sense of NIJIMI does not exist in the Western world which puts value on technics, nor was it handed down from Chinese culture.
He learned the Japanese language from the Kojiki (a record of ancient matters) and the Nihon Shoki (Chronicles of Japan).
With his understanding of deep spirituality sometimes more than Japanese people, he continues to draw Japanese mythological art by his original deblurring method. His works have been dedicated to more than 120 shrines all over Japan.
He is not only a magician at creating colors but he is a Japanese Mythology painter being used by the Lord, followed by gods and goddesses.
He was awarded by the Japanese government for spreading the Japanese culture and its spirits.
